Year 1 - Class YD

Welcome to Yellow D’s web page! Our class teacher is Miss Denney assisted by Mrs Lunat.

There are 24 pupils in our class. We are a happy, friendly, caring class and we love to help! We have had a lovely first few weeks back at school and have already had three parties for our super 100% attendance!! Aren’t we great!

Half Term News
Our topic for this half term is monsters, as part of our topic we have been learning about ourselves, our body and healthy eating.

We love learning and love to do this in lots of exciting ways so far we have had a Tiger tea party, tried lots of healthy fruits, been on an outdoor hunt recording what we could see as a tally and are yet to make sandwiches and have a ‘Monster party’ and best of all this is just the start!

In numeracy we are learning to count to 20 and to complete simple additions and subtractions. We are also learning about data collection and beginning to tell the time.

In literacy we are learning how to sequence stories; how to retell stories; how to label things and write instructions. Our books are ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea; and ‘The Gruffalo’. We will also be looking at information books about ‘Our Body’ and ‘Healthy Eating’.

Information for home

Please remember to bring book bags to school every day. Our class books will be changed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Our PE days are Monday and Friday. Please remind your child to bring their PE kit and remove any jewellery including earrings.

You can help your child by:

Reading regularly with them at home and writing a comment in their reading diary.

Questioning what they have read to help them understand the text.

Talking to your child about their day at school - what have they enjoyed? What have they been learning about?
