Pentland Infant and Nursery School

Admissions Procedures

Children of three years of age and above are entitled to a part-time (15 hours a week) nursery class place, from the term after their third birthday (subject to a place being available).

The school has a 26 place nursery class, offering either morning  or afternoon sessions.

Applying for a place in the Nursery Class:

Parents must apply for a place by completing an application form available from the school.  A list will be compiled and kept in school.  Places are limited and will be offered in a fair and equitable way according to the age of the child.  The length of time that a child’s name has been on the admissions list will not be taken into consideration. Local Authority Looked after Children will be given priority in terms of allocation of places.

Reception Class Places

Attendance at Pentland Infant and Nursery School nursery class, does not automatically mean that a place in Reception Class will be available for your child.  All parents must complete a separate application form indicating the school of their choice for Reception class.  This form must be submitted to the Local Authority by January 15th of the year prior  to the September in which your child will start school.

There are strict guidelines and admissions procedures which govern the allocation of places to schools.
